Anthony Albanese backs calls to make at-home tests more accessible
There are calls for rapid antigen tests to be made more accessible as queues outside PCR testing sites continue to snake for kilometres.
Testing clinics have been overrun as multiple states requiring travellers to return negative PCR tests prior to arrival.
Many people are being forced to move on as sites reach capacity, instead encouraged to take rapid tests if possible.
Federal Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese told Chris O’Keefe everyone should be able to take a swab at home.
“It is just diabolical,” he said. “Throughout this pandemic, it’s been clear to me you need to get the health outcomes right in order to then get better economic outcomes.
“In the UK for some time now, you’ve had packs of seven delivered to people’s households for free.
“I’d be making sure that I put in place a mechanism so that they were available and so that … no one was excluded from access because of their income.”
