Animal experts want to cull kangaroos

Article image for Animal experts want to cull kangaroos

Kangaroo numbers are about to hit 50 million in Australia, up 27 million from 2010.

But the mammals are causing serious damage to surrounding wildlife and land.

Bush Heritage Australia wants to cull 500 eastern grey kangaroos this year, and possibly the same again in 2019.

The group says the booming population is putting threatened species at risk.

Ben Fordham speaks with Dr David Freudenberger, Kangaroo Expert at Australian National University.
