Alan Jones has praised the efforts of Sydney students who are honouring Australian soldiers who died during one of WWI’s most devastating battles.

Students from St Clare’s College Waverley are making a documentary on the Battle of Fromelles, which was the first major conflict fought by Australian troops on the Western Front.

The documentary will focus on the impact the battle had on the women left behind after Australia lost 5500 soldiers in just 12 hours.

St Clare’s student Lily Whitaker tells Alan the group of passionate students will travel to Fromelles next April to make the documentary.

“It is important that people should understand the impact war has on families and soldiers who fought for our country and who are still fighting to protect us today.

“We want the Battle of Fromelles to be remembered forever.”
