Alan Jones has criticised the Prime Minister’s new drought relief project, claiming the numbers just don’t add up.

Scott Morrison announced the $100-million package in the Queensland town of Dalby on Friday, which will extend financial help to 13 more drought-affected local government areas.

But Alan has looked into the funding and says the numbers just don’t add up.

“I just think that there are people in Canberra that think people like me are stupid. 

“It’s one program after another, no one seems to know what’s happening.”

Alan says the government’s announcement of 21 new dam projects is also misleading, as many of them are just modernisations of existing dams.

“Where are the shovels in the ground?!”

Shadow Minister for Agriculture Joel Fitzgibbon says Alan’s research is “absolutely spot on”.

“Farmers and drought-affected rural communities are feeling very, very disappointed this morning.

“There are a number of towns that have missed out [on funding], all of which are represented by Labor members.

“And yet National Party seats… are getting drought funding in towns where, again, the mayor says they don’t need drought funding.”
