Airport strikes could threaten Christmas travel
Australian travellers could be facing more airport disruption this Christmas.
The aviation branch of the United Firefighters Union (UFU) will open a strike ballot to members today.
Any strike would likely begin in mid November or December and throw end-of-year holiday travel plans into disruption.
Aviation Writer at The Australian Robyn Ironside told Jim Wilson the strikes would cause chaos.
“International airlines won’t land at airports without fire crews, and without cabin crews a flight couldn’t take off.”
