AFP President calls on government to deliver better mental health support for officers

Mark Levy

The Australian Federal Police president is calling for action from the government to help officers struggling with mental health.

‘Operation Recognition’ has been launched to recognise the work of AFP officers.

Australian Federal Police Association President Alex Caruana told Ray Hadley the government is yet to commit to extra assistance.

“Our members put their lives and their minds on the line every day to keep Australians safe and the government doesn’t recognise … and has not provided them with the assistance they need.

“We’re calling for a blue card and that basically mirrors the defence white card.”
