Advocates holding out hope despite Labor’s JobSeeker ditch

Advocates holding out hope for a raise to the JobSeeker rate despite no commitment from either major party ahead of the federal election.

Labor has dumped a policy position taken to the 2019 election, promising to set up an independent review of the allowance.

Australian Council of Social Service CEO Cass Goldie told Chris Smith it’s a cost of living issue.

“In the community, people want to see that people can at least avoid hunger and homelessness.

“Decisions can move – this is day 4 [of the election campaign].”
