Advocates call for higher welfare support payments

Advocates say increases to welfare support won’t do enough to ease the cost of living.

About one million people will see a boost to their welfare payment.

Students, those on the disability pension, and people on youth allowance will receive between $19 and $42 more per fortnight.

Australian Council of Social Services CEO Cassandra Goldie told John Stanley the payment increase is simply not enough to ensure people can keep up with the rise of inflation and cost-of-living.
