Acting Premier claims there’s ‘nothing to hide’ after announcement of new flood inquiry

Clinton Maynard

Acting Premier Paul Toole says the government has “nothing to hide” after announcing an inquiry into the flood crisis amid criticisms of the state’s response.

The inquiry will investigate the causes of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from the catastrophic flood event.

After widespread criticism of the handling of the crisis Mr Toole told Jim Wilson, “There’s going to be nothing here that we’re going to hide from anyone”.

The report will inspect and survey the emergency response, especially measures to protect life, property and the environment.

It will also recommend actions for future adaptation to flooding risks for communities as well as coordination and collaboration between all levels of government.

“We need to make sure we are helping those communities rebuild.”
