ACCC blowing the whistle on the lack of airline competition

A new report by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has found that 90 per cent of Australian passengers choose to fly with either Virgin, Qantas, or Jetstar, raising questions about the impact on prices.
Chair of the ACCC, Gina Cass-Gottlieb, explained that the dominance of these airlines has allowed airfares to remain high while the services provided deteriorate.
She further expressed that effective competition between airlines would drive down prices.
