Hawkesbury City Council has unveiled a controversial Special Rate Variation proposal, seeking to raise rates by nearly 40% over the next three years.

The dramatic increase is being sought to urgently fund roads and essential infrastructure, addressing a crippling $99.1 million renewal shortfall that is projected to reach $170 million over the next decade.
