The giant jets buzzing for a good cause
Some giant jets have invaded the 2GB studios this afternoon, all in the name of a good cause.
On Sunday, the Sydney skyline will be buzzing with largescale jet aircraft models to raise money for disadvantaged kids.
Each year, NSW Kids in Need puts in a heroic effort to raise funds for kids who are economically disadvantaged or suffering from illness.
The foundation acts as a funding arm for six children’s charities including Bear Cottage and SHINE for Kids.
Their Fast Jets and Amazing Pilots event gives ticketholders the opportunity to get up close and personal with powerful aircraft models and their skilled pilots.
All proceeds from the day will go to NSW Kids in Need.
Pilot Jeff Sparkes joins Chris Smith in the studio, revealing his planes can reach up to 300km/h.
“I’ll be bringing three [on Sunday]. I’ve got an F-18 Hornet and an F-16 Falcon.”
NSW Kids in Need Chairman Peter Debnam is encouraging everyone to get behind their cause.
“Everybody is absolutely excited about this event on Sunday,” he says.
“It’s the first time we’ve done it… the pilots are putting a lot of effort into it.”
