Alan Jones apologises to Opera House CEO Louise Herron

Alan Jones has publicly apologised to Opera House CEO Louise Herron over a heated on-air conversation and recent comments.

The breakfast host was advocating for The Everest to be promoted on the sails of the iconic building, as per the state government’s recommendation.

Such promotion has been allowed in the past for the Wallabies, the Ashes and the Mardi Gras.

Alan admits his fiery exchange with Ms Herron was “tough stuff on a tough issue” and has apologised for the impact it’s had on all those involved.

“Sometimes I get it wrong, when I do I have no problem in saying so.

“Last Friday, and on Monday, I spoke about Louise Herron, the Opera House CEO and I used some words in these programs about The Everest and the Opera House and about Louise Herron.

“In hindsight I regret, having heard the impact, and that’s my concern, that they’ve had on some people including her.

“It was tough stuff on a tough issue and I also said yesterday men and women are treated equally on this program and I hold myself to that standard.

“I don’t believe my words or actions qualify as those of a bully or a misogynist but there are clearly many people who do.

“My intention was to deal with the issue, about which I feel very passionately, and not to bully or demean Louise Herron.

“So, to Louise and to those people who have been offended, if we are offended that was not my intention, I do apologise. I’m always happy to do that and I do it often.

“I’ll be writing to Louise later today and indicate those very same sentiments.”
