Move over Malcolm: Pauline Hanson says Tony Abbott deserves the top job
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson says Tony Abbott should be given another shot at the Liberal leadership following a failed spill.
Malcolm Turnbull narrowly held onto his job by seven votes, after Peter Dutton challenged him for the Liberal leadership this morning.
Following his defeat, Mr Dutton resigned as the Home Affairs Minister and will now sit on the backbench.
Mr Dutton hasn’t ruled out launching a second challenge, saying he will do whatever he can “to make sure that we are in a position to win the next election”.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson tells Ben Fordham she isn’t surprised the Prime Minister was challenged for the leadership and Tony Abbott should have another go at the top job.
“I think Tony Abbott should be given another chance at the leadership of the Liberal Party. They’ve got nothing to lose.
“Tony Abbott has the experience, he has the knowledge, he’s been pushing the conservative policies.”

“In the minds of a lot of Australians, anyone would be better than Malcolm Turnbull as leader of the Liberal Party.”
She says Malcolm Turnbull is “too far to the left for a lot of people” and is out of touch with the “grass roots” of Australia.
