UPDATE | Truck driver charged over double fatal on the M1

UPDATE
A man has now been charged over a fiery crash on the M1, north of Sydney, which killed two people yesterday afternoon.
Driver distraction is among factors being investigated by police following the deadly multi-vehicle.
Just before 5pm, a truck crashed into the back of a car and caught fire, just north of the Mooney Mooney Bridge.
Police have now revealed more information about those caught in the incident.
Two men, believed to be aged 19 and 52, who were travelling in a Ford ute died in the crash.
A 75-year-old woman, who was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with serious injuries.
The remaining drivers and passengers were taken to Gosford Hospital for further treatment.
They were: two women, aged 36 and 34, travelling in a Hyundai i30; a 44-year-old woman driving a Hyundai Tuscon and a 62-year-old woman driving a Mazda 3.
The 30-year-old male truck driver is facing multiple charges, including two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
His licence has been suspended and he has been granted conditional bail to in court later this month.
The trucking company MWP Transport says it is shocked and dismayed by what has happened and says it’s cooperating with police, ahead of an expected audit of its fleet.

Two people are dead after a truck crashed into the back of two cars before bursting into flames on the M1 north of Sydney.
Just before 5pm, emergency services responded to reports of a multi-vehicle crash involving a truck and two cars 100 metres north of the Mooney Mooney Creek Bridge.
An off-duty police officer was first on the scene where one of the vehicles became trapped underneath the truck.
The two people inside that car died at the scene.
Four others were treated by paramedics for minor injuries, three have been taken to hospital in stable conditions

Two northbound lanes on the M1 at Mooney Mooney Creek are closed and there are extensive delays. All southbound lanes have reopened.
Motorists already travelling north on the M1 can exit the motorway at Calga and use the Pacific Highway as an alternative route.
