Medical experts push for point-to-point speed cameras to target cars
Surgeons are pushing for point-to-point speed cameras to be switched on to catch hundreds of speeding drivers in cars.
The technology is currently placed at 24 locations throughout the state, but currently only target heavy vehicles.
Medical experts are slamming the State Government’s hesitation to reform the system to include cars.
Chairman of the Trauma Committee for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Dr John Crozier says the cameras demonstrate “tremendous benefits”.
“We do know that for every truck that’s issued an infringement notice there are 800 other light vehicle operators that infringe.
“That’s a sustained desire to exceed a safe limit.”
