Apple and Pear Growers Seek Efficiency

New packing technology could significantly reduce costs for Victorian apple and pear growers.

An analysis has found storing, packing, grading, and selling the fruit adds on average $1.06 per kilo.

Grading and packing makes up 65 percent of those costs.

Apple and Pear Australia says the next step is developing a broader project to establish simple, yet robust industry benchmarks.
