2GB Drive host James Willis has slammed the government’s public service, criticising its continued growth while Australian businesses face mounting financial pressures.

He has pointed to a $43 billion public wage bill and claimed more than 40 federal departments had recorded cost blowouts totalling $2 billion.

“The safest job in the country right now is a fat cat in a corner office of a cushy air-conditioned room in the ACT,” Willis said.
