The Sydney Roosters are holding their breath as star playmaker Sam Walker limps off with a severe left ankle injury during a nightmare clash against the Dolphins.

A night that was already going wrong turned disastrous when key half Sam Walker went down in back play, unable to place any weight on his left leg. The medical team initially requested a stretcher before the origin star opted to hobble off the field in visible distress.

Commentators voiced immediate concerns over what the injury means for the Chooks’ postseason ambitions.

“If he’s not available come semi-final time, they are in big trouble,” Daryl Brohman noted as Walker made his way straight up the tunnel.

With the Roosters struggling to find any fluency, losing their primary game-manager could not come at a worse time.
