‘Deflecting personal responsibility’ – The fixation on private school and crime
Michael McLaren has called out the media and public for fixating on the private school connection if a student has been alleged to have committed a crime.
He says that holding private school students to a higher standard and blaming everyone is indicative of society blaming everyone but the alleged offender.
“The fact of the matter is money doesn’t buy manners, and it doesn’t automatically raise well-adjusted children,” he said.
“I think somewhere along the way, many of us lost the art of personal agency and owning our actions,” he added.
