Speaking to the Continuous Call team, Simmons recalled Farragher’s incredible resilience following a career-ending spinal injury in 1978.
“I never heard him whinge once about being in that chair, and he’s just a champion bloke, and that’s why we’re going out there to celebrate his life.”
To prepare for the grueling journey, Simmons has been training daily in the Blue Mountains, clocking up to four hours and 20 kilometers a day. The walk will officially wrap up at CommBank Stadium on Sunday, September 6, when the Penrith Panthers face off against the Wests Tigers.
