Michael McLaren has shared his thoughts on climate anxiety after an opinion piece was published by a mother who says her climate anxiety worsened after having a child.

The Afternoons’ host says it is insane to him that there are some who believe the state of the world in the future should preclude them from having children.

“It’s not going to be the case, but it’s sad that many people believe this. And as I said, it’s easy for people to say, ‘Oh, look, these people are mad,’ or whatever. Okay, we can throw around pejorative terms all we like, but that doesn’t address the issue,” he said.

“Humanity will prevail. We always have. It’s just sometimes there’s a few little bumps in the road, right? But what are we teaching the kids that so many of them are now falling for this sort of stuff?” he added.
