Strategic Analysis Australia director Michael Shoebridge has told 2GB Afternoons that it’s no coincidence the news comes on the same day Australia inked a deal with Fiji on a new defence alliance.

“It’s hard to read it as saying anything other than China’s military’s not welcome. But this is a massive own goal because if the Chinese want to say, ‘Well, we come in peace. This is all about win-win,’ What on earth is this missile test about?” he said.
