AFL legend and former Australian of the Year Neale Daniher has sadly passed away at age 65 after a 13-year fight with Motor Neurone Disease.

Following his passing, the Daniher family released a statement encapsulating his final, powerful wish – to help create a world where no one else has to face the terror of MND.

Speaking on 2GB’s Sydney Now, entertainment reporter Peter Ford reflected on Neale’s incredible impact, noting that lesser-known diseases rarely capture the public’s attention until a prominent figure selflessly steps up to put a face to the fight.
