Andrew Hastie has criticised Anthony Albanese for being late to the party over the PM’s comments regarding a possible revival of the local car manufacturing industry.

The Shadow Minister for Industry and Sovereign Capability has told Clinton Maynard that Australians have lamented the decline of domestic manufacturing.

I think the biggest symbol of that decline has been the collapse and closure of our car industry,” he said.

Hastie has questioned the decision to focus on EVs.

EVs are about 10 per cent of our car market here in Australia … we’ve got to think beyond EVs,” he added.
