Anthony Albanese has been accused of courting and deceiving younger Australians instead of focusing on good economic policy.

2GB Afternoons host Michael McLaren has warned both “boomers” and young Australians to be wary of the intergenerational equity policy coming in the upcoming federal budget.

“What the government won’t tell them … [is] that they actually have other, more direct and impactful levers at their disposal to make housing more affordable, but they don’t want to touch those because they would impact the government’s bottom line,” he said.

Senior director at Eminence Advisory Dimitri Burshtein says the evidence is not on the government’s side.

“The young always have fewer resources than the old because they haven’t had the opportunity to accumulate wealth,” he said
