‘5 counts of alleged war crimes – Murder’ – Ben Roberts-Smith expected to be charged later today
Ben Roberts-Smith has been arrested at Sydney Airport this morning following a five-year joint investigation of alleged war crimes by the Australian Federal Police and the Office of Special Investigator.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett, who declined to name Roberts-Smith as the former soldier arrested at Sydney Airport, said the AFP will allege the unnamed soldier murdered and ordered those under him to murder unarmed detained Afghan nationals.
“It has been a complex investigation that has been undertaken thoroughly and meticulously,” she said at a press conference earlier today.
Ben Roberts-Smith has denied all wrongdoing.
