Clinton Maynard has received several messages about social media posts claiming car and fuel theft is up in the Northern Beaches and across Sydney as a result of the fuel crisis.

Nepean Regional Security founder Gina Field says while she’s also seen the social posts, car theft has remained fairly stable.

“What I’m seeing now is there’s been a change in dynamic where people are being a lot more vocal on social media,” she said.
