Michael McLaren has made some reflections after seven of the Iranian female soccer team were granted asylum by Immigration Minister Tony Burke.

The 2GB Afternoons host has pointed out the move will have global implications.

“The reality is their defection to the West … will be widely interpreted as a political act,” he said.
