‘It would be very sad’ – NSW RSL President weighs in on proposed Victoria Barracks sale
The federal government is preparing to sell the historic Victoria Barracks in Sydney’s eastern suburb of Paddington. Built in 1840, the site is widely regarded as the birthplace of the Australian Army and has stood at the centre of the nation’s military history for more than 180 years.
Acting President of the NSW RSL Vince Williams joined 2GB Afternoons to discuss the RSL’s position on the federal government’s push to sell the historic site.
“Victoria Barracks is the heart and soul of the army presence in Sydney,” Williams said.
“It would be very sad to see a heritage area like that disappear.”
Sign our petition below calling on the Albanese government NOT to sell Sydney’s Victoria Barracks and to ensure this piece of living Australian history remains in army hands.
