‘Not a Rodney King moment’ – Clinton’s reaction to viral protest video
A man has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a viral video emerged of a protester allegedly biting an officer’s hand at a protest on Monday.
Clinton Maynard has taken issue with commentary which claims this is a “Rodney King” moment.
“This video is being used as an example of police brutality … This is not Australia’s Rodney King moment,” he said.
In total, New South Wales Police have confirmed nine people have been charged as a result of Monday’s protests.

NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley has defended the police’s actions, and pointed out they were wearing body-worn cameras.
“So we will have a much clearer picture of what exactly occurred … They {the protesters] said to police they would not march, that unfortunately did not happen. They knew the consequences; the police had a job to do,” she said.
