New South Wales authorities are facing a unique and complex legal battle as double murderer Terry Mark Donai, identifying as female, seeks transfer to a women’s correctional facility without having undergone gender reassignment surgery.

Lucy Zelić says the whole ordeal is an attempt to blur the lines of biological reality and, in turn, is “sending us on a pathway to hell”.

“If you think this isn’t a problem, then you are not speaking to the people at the ground level who are dealing with this issue.”
