Temu pulls battery-operated toys after watchdog finds failure to meet Australian safety standards
Temu has taken 15 battery-operated toys off its website after CHOICE found the products failed to comply with Australian safety standards.
CHOICE’s Andy Kelly says Temu should be doing more to prevent these products from being sold.
A Temu spokesperson says they take product safety very seriously and require their merchandise partners to ensure their products meet relevant regulations where sold.
“Upon receiving CHOICE’s inquiry, we immediately launched a review of the product listings in question. We found that three of the products — the TutuSkirt, LED Tea Light, and Writing Tablet — had been flagged and removed by our proactive monitoring in July and August, before we received the notice from CHOICE. We have removed the remaining 12 products from our platform,” they said.
