Explosions heard as significant grassfire breaks out at Camden Valley Way near Edmonson Park

Michael McLaren

A significant grassfire is ablaze at Camden Valley Way near Edmonson Park this afternoon.

Fire and Rescue NSW has confirmed homes are under threat and roads have been closed as 25 crews battle the blaze.

Inspector Steve Brown says individuals who don’t live in the area have been advised to avoid the area as 80 firefighters are on the ground.

Caller, Jeff says the fire has grown significantly and claims he has heard explosions.

‘It’s massive …  and I think there’s more to it than just a grassfire,” he told Michael McLaren.

Residents have been advised to keep up to date the Hazards Near Me app and the Fire and Rescue website.
