Supermarkets face a year-long integrity test

Phil O'Neil

The ACCC’s year-long inquiry into Australia’s supermarket sector has been launched in response to the cost-of-living crisis and the accusations from some, that our big two players, Coles and Woolworths, have been engaged in price gouging.

Given these two players control 70% or the grocery market, it’s timely to examine how they operate, and whether they’re acting ethically and fairly within the voluntary Food and Grocery Code of Conduct, which governs the relationship between supermarkets and their food and grocery suppliers.
