Latrell Mitchell’s decision to turn down a spot in the Kangaroos side came as a shock to Mal Meninga, but he supports the young star’s decision to instead attend Koori Knockout.

Meninga’s side will be as star-studded as usual, although Mitchell not being part of the team would appear to take some of the sheen off the squad. He told Mark Levy

I was surprised, but I’m not surprised if that makes sense. I know he’s a big advocate of the Koori Knockout, and obviously he’s very passionate, First Nations person,” Meninga told Wide World of Sports.
