Unlikely cross-party alliance lobbies U.S. to drop Julian Assange charges

Greens senator David Shoebridge and Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce have sensationally teamed up in a bid to get the United States to drop charges against Julian Assange.

The quest to have Julian Assange returned home to Australia has been over a decade in the making, and now Joyce and Shoebridge are in the United States to lobby for his charges to be dropped.

Julian Assange, via WikiLeaks, released a huge amount of classified U.S. government documents in 2010 and has been on the run since.
