Developer Mirvac: The unlikely hero in tragic memorial saga

Ray Hadley and Deborah Knight

Property developer Mirvac has emerged as the driving force behind a long-delayed memorial for four children, putting the Oatlands Golf Club’s board to shame.

After years of resistance, the Oatlands Golf Club board has finally agreed to allow a memorial for four children killed in a tragic accident.

However, it’s not their change of heart that made it happen — it’s Mirvac’s insistence that the memorial be a part of their land development deal.

The mother of Veronique Sakr, Bridget Sakr, spoke to Deborah Knight about the new plans for a memorial for the four children.
