Pharmacists say the 60-day dispensing legislation will cost thousands of jobs

Clinton Maynard

A caller to Overnight yesterday was of the view that the Government’s new 60-day medical prescription legislation, which comes into effect tomorrow, will leave her worse off in reaching her safety net threshold.  It turns out she might be onto something from early investigations.

Luke speaks with Emil Demayne, owner of the Belmore pharmacy in Sydney and spokesperson for CAPS (Community & Pharmacy Support) group, about how he sees this change affecting Australians & pharmacies.

He agrees with the listener and plans to be in Canberra when parliament resumes sittings next week to see if he can get more support for a disallowance motion the opposition hopes to get through.

Pharmacists are saying that the Federal Labor Government’s 60-Day dispensing legislation will have a deep and negative impact on thousands of local pharmacies.
