‘Paying the price’: Mayor discusses crime spike along border

Ray Hadley

Mayor of Goondiwindi Region, Lawrence Springborg spoke about the concerning spike in crime along the NSW and Queensland border in a conversation with Ray Hadley.

The mayor explained that this is “the stark reality of what we are dealing with”.

He further expressed frustration with the lack of real consequences for people who commit crimes along the border.

Springborg stated that the community bears the brunt of the situation, whilst criminals walk off scot-free.

The Goondiwindi Region have received police support from the Queensland government, however, Springborg said “what isn’t working is the justice response.”
