Bluey producers cave over “fat-shaming” accusations

Michael McLaren

Beloved children’s cartoon Bluey is embroiled in a controversy over one of its recent episodes, forcing the producers to release a new version of the episode.

Bluey’s recent episode “Exercise” faced controversy over alleged ‘fat-shaming’, prompting producers to release an edited version.

Critics, including pediatric dietitian Dr. Kyla Ringrose, disapproved of a scene where Bluey’s father, Bandit, weighs himself and displays body dissatisfaction.

An ABC spokesperson said, “The new version provides families with the opportunity to manage important conversations in their own way.”
