The pilot is fighting for life in Liverpool Hospital, after a light plane crash at Bankstown Airport.

The man in his 60s has arm, leg and spinal injuries.

A light plane has crashed at Bankstown Airport in Sydney’s south-west.

The pilot has been cut out of the wreckage by firefighters and is in stable condition and is being treated.

The plane is upside down and the firefighters had to do a lot of “cutting” to reach the pilot.

Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Deberry told Chris O’Keefe that the pilot is pretty “crook”.

There is an ongoing risk of fire and the firefighters are maintaining a foam blanket to make sure there is no ignition.
