Two teenagers and a man charged after stolen car cross-border joyride

Mark Levy

Two teenagers and a man will face court following an alleged cross-border pursuit from Queensland to New South Wales.

Three males, aged 16, 17, and 28, are alleged to have stolen a Mercedes SUV and driven it from Brisbane to Tweed Heads in northern NSW.
Queensland and NSW Police followed the trio along the M1 for two hours in a slow-motion chase.
In footage posted on social media by the offenders, they can be seen hanging out of the car and tormenting the police cars in pursuit.
They were eventually stopped by road spikes near Cudgera Creek and taken into custody at Tweed Heads Police Station.

“The only good news out of all this, by the time they got these alleged imbeciles, they were in New South Wales which means they escape the rather soft laws of Queensland and they’ve been refused bail,” Ray said.

The 17-year-old male driver will face a children’s court on a string of property, vehicle, drug, and weapons offences.
The 16-year-old male passenger will also face a children’s court on property, weapons, and vehicle offences.
The 28-year-old male passenger will face Tweed Heads Local Court today on property offences.
