The Premier has unveiled the most significant reforms to poker machines since they were introduced, vowing they’ll save lives while protecting jobs.
Independent MP Helen Dalton told Deborah Knight the reform is a big step forward but the time frame is far too long.
“Five years, a lot can happen in that time frame,” she said.
By the end of 2028, pokies will be cashless, while clubs will be given interest-free loans and $50,000 grants to help with the transition.
