Returning foreign students face record high rents

Phil O'Neil

Luke is joined by Abul Rizvi, former deputy secretary of the Department of Immigration & author of “Population Shock”, to discuss foreign students facing record high rents and low vacancy rates when returning to Australia.

Dr Rizvi says “This will become even more difficult when student work rights return to 40 hours per fortnight from 1 July 2023.  That is a change that must be made to refocus student visas on study but some form of transitional arrangements will be needed.”

Also discussed is Japan & China being in a population ageing & decline race… soon to be joined by South Korea, Taiwan, Russia & other European nations says Dr Rizvi.
