Researchers discover ‘significant’ kidney disease breakthrough
A blood test which could identify people with diabetes who are risk of developing chronic kidney disease is now on the cards.
Researchers around the world have tried in vain for years for a genetic bio-marker for the potentially fatal condition.
Professor El-Osta from the Monash University has led an international team which has discovered a biochemical process which can reveal whether individuals are at higher risk.
He told Deborah Knight it’s a significant medical breakthrough, with kidney disease being a serious problem.
