Australians are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood over the holiday period, to help prevent a shortage.

People with O and A blood types in particular, are being asked to donate.

Lifeblood spokesperson Jemma Falkenmire joined Mark Levy to explain how the public can donate blood.
