Councillor’s campaign to waive outdoor dining fees succeeds
The City of Sydney will waive outdoor dining fees until mid-2025 as it works out how to make the al fresco phenomenon permanent.
Footpath dining can now continue until July 2025 with no extra fees payable, which will cost the council about $4 million in lost revenue.
Liberal councillor Lyndon Gannon, who campaigned to “keep Sydney al fresco”, told Joe Hildebrand it’s a fantastic result.
“You can now have a glass of wine or beer while you’re waiting for a table, which is great news.”
