Tasmania’s reputation for sparkling wines takes another step forward

Wine drinkers are aware of Tasmania’s reputation for beautiful pinot noir, but the island is also producing exceptional sparkling wines.

G.H. Mumm, the world leading champagne brand, has released a sparkling wine from the island.

Wine Tasmania reports that 37 per cent of all grapes from the 2022 Tasmanian vintage are bound for sparkling wine production.

Australian winemaker and sparkling wine specialist Trina Smith told Deborah Knight the region was becoming more known for its different type of wines.

“The pristine climate here seemed like the perfect place to produce a beautiful sparkling wine.”

“Tasmania is a region where a lot of people are starting to look at for growing top quality grapes.”
