New South Wales is bringing its foster care rules into line with the rest of the country.

Young people in the system will be supported for an extra three years, until they turn 21.

State funding for a child to live in a foster home in NSW currently ends at 18.

Paul McDonald, national chair of the Home Stretch campaign, told Deborah Knight he was very pleased with the result.

“We have continued to present the evidence and facts to the government, this decision makes a lot of sense.

“In the end, persistence wins the goal you are after. I want to congratulate Premier Dominic Perrottet for taking this reform on.”
